Matthew 13:44-46 (NIV)
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

This week's scripture comes from Matthew's Gospel, chapter 13, verses 44 through 46 in the New International Version. Allow yourself to be still, to breathe slowly, and to recenter your scattered senses upon the presence of God. We will read this weak scripture thrice, pausing for a moment of reflection after each reading. The scripture is a gift to be received, not a problem to be dissected. The scripture is a gift to be received slowly and to be savored. The scripture will become a prayer to be taken away with us into our week. In our first reading, listen for a word or phrase that stands out to you. After the reading, silently repeat that word or phrase in your mind. The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your goodness and for your grace and for your love. Thank you for hearing our prayers. Keep us under your wing until we meet again. Amen.
